  • Flying, Nursery, Begging is Becoming

    Good Evening!

I can not believe that it's been a week and a half since I've written anything!  Life is just zooming by these days and boy oh boy have I been busy!

First and foremost I have to take a minute to brag on Ryan just one more time!  He found out soon after the awards banquet that he had been selected for an incentive flight.  He's been in the Air Force for 12 years and through a variety of circumstances (broken planes, last minute deployments, ect.)  he's never been able to take one before so this was a big deal.

It was such a neat experience for him.  He got to be fitted for a flight suit and a mask, and he had to do ejector seat training.  He had a blast!

The only really bad thing from the whole day was that when he showed up on the flight line for the flight the photographer didn't show!  So there are no pictures of him at all.  12 years of waiting for this flight and there is no record of it... such a bummer!!!!

I found a picture online of the plane he took his flight on so you can see it.

    This is the T-6 Texan.

    t6texan2.jpg

The coolest part of the whole day was that Ryan actually got to FLY this plane!  This is a training base AND this is one of the training jets AND he got to fly with one of the flight instructors so OBVIOUSLY he got a crash course (sorry poor choice of words) in flying and got to fly the plane!

    SO COOL!

    Okay I'm done...

Onto the rest of my news.

    This past week the second trimester energy has hit me full bore!  In the past week I've;

    • Deep cleaned the house (and when I say deep cleaning I mean right down to soaking the elements from the stove top!)
    • Rearranged my bedroom to accommodate the co sleeper and rocking chair
    • Cleaned out the spare room
    • We turned the spare room into the nursery
    • We sorted through about half of what was in that room into sell, donate, and store piles.
    • We took a trip to San Antonio to register and pick up a few things we needed
    • We fixed the '98 Honda Shadow and got it ready to sell.

That's about it but it was not a small amount of work!

No worries... for all of you worry warts out there, I was very careful, took plenty of breaks, had plenty of water, and didn't lift anything heavy!  That was a super feat when you consider that I moved a whole room of furniture around.  How did I do it without lifting?  I got out my tool box, took the furniture apart and moved it piece by piece!  Told you I got hit by some insane energy!

Here is my official 24 week photo.  I think maybe I popped... You'll see...

    Week24.jpg

I just had to share the pictures of Ryan putting together the crib.  We bought this crib almost five years ago... We bought it as an act of faith after my surgery that God would bless us with a family... We almost got rid of it a dozen times in the intervening years...

    DSC_2787.JPG

I'm so glad we didn't.  It's been to two countries, two states, and lived in the storage and basements of five homes.  And now it has a home of it's own!

    Proud papa!

    DSC_2790.JPG

     What a workout!  Phew!!!

    DSC_2791.JPG

I'm pretty pleased with it myself!  Here is Isaac with his crib for the very first time!

    DSC_2802.JPG

Another reason I'm so glad we kept the crib is that I bought it to match an antique dresser that I inherited from my great grandmother.  (You'll see it in the picture below) The moment I saw the dresser I knew I wanted it for my nursery someday and I'm tickled pink I held onto the dream I had for these two pieces!  It's also a huge deal to see them together for the very first time!  I was right, they suit each other perfectly!

So here is the basic set up... Much more in the weeks to come.

    DSC_2814.JPG

You might notice the green and red lamps I have hanging above the crib... Keep in mind our nursery theme is pirates... those lanterns are the markers for port and starboard!  Just wait until you see the other tricks I have up my sleeves!

Also, my mother will be coming to visit for a few weeks in April to help me get everything ready before Isaac actually arrives.  One of our big projects is to refinish the antique dresser.  It's just very scarred up and needs some TLC but it will remain the same color.  She agreed today to help me refinish my rocking chair to match!  I'm so excited!!!

We also got our pack and play/playard/co-sleeper delivered the other day and set it up in our newly rearranged room.  Here it is!

I'm very excited because it has a changing table down the back that flips up... it drops down and becomes a regular playpen... the top comes out and becomes a play mat and it has a light/vibrate/music function as well.  It's a great alternative for us since we have limited space and weight!

    DSC_2821.JPG

Oh, one more picture from the nursery.  Here is the blanket rack my mother in law got me with the two blankets I have done for Isaac so far.  No worries, it will be FULL to bursting! (This sits on the opposite wall from the crib.)

    DSC_2815.JPG

Speaking of yarn... Here is a plea out to all of you that knit, crochet or craft.  I have a blanket that I am half way through.  I have had this puppy in mind for a son for years and the yarn was purchased for it a few years ago.  I thought I had enough but I had used some of the yarn for other projects as hope dwindled over the years and now, more than half way through I unexpectedly ran out of one of the colors only to find that they no longer make it and I can't even find it on ebay!!!!  Could you go through your stocks and scraps?  If anyone has even just one skein (two would be preferable) of Bernat Satin in the color Sterling you would be saving my sanity if you let me buy it from you!!!

Here is the half done blanket...

    DSC_2824.JPG

Here's a close up of the stitch...

    DSC_2825.JPG

Here is the label of the yarn I'm looking for...

    DSC_2827.JPG  DSC_2828.JPG

I guess that's about it for me today!  I have my regular appointment tomorrow and at that appointment I'll be getting the official permission from my doc to leave the area.  Then in a few weeks time I'll be heading back to Phoenix for my baby shower that my mom and sisters are throwing me!  I'm very excited for the trip and the shower... 10 years is a long time to wait between my wedding shower and my first baby shower!  :)

Well I better get a move on and get some dinner on the table... My husband, myself and my kiddo are getting hungry!

    Auf Weidersehen!

  • Crack Balls!

    Good Afternoon!

Today I want to share a real hit recipe!

We call them Crack Balls!  (Otherwise known as Inside Out Oreos)

I got this recipe from a wonderful lady who is a great friend of mine from when we were stationed in Germany.

This was a blast to make and they were a huge hit!  I sent 100 of these beauties into the office with Ryan yesterday and not a crumb came back... I'm convinced I just turned the whole office into diabetics... but what a way to go!

This recipe will make between 30 and 60 balls (I doubled it to get 100 of them)

    You will need:

    • 2 bags of white chocolate chips
    • 1 bag of original oreos (reduced fat is okay, but double stuff does not work)
    • 1 8oz package of cream cheese

Soften the cream cheese. If you have to make the oreos into a fine powder; the best way to do this is by using a food processor.

Now you get to be down and dirty!

Mix the cream cheese with the pulverized oreos until it is like mud (It will look like mud and you'll probably have to use your hands to mix it well... I did!) roll the mixture into whatever size balls you would like.

    DSC_2736.JPG

Place them on a cookie sheet lined with wax paper and put them in the refrigerator over night. (If you are in a hurry or do it last minute; you can put them in the freezer for about 20 minutes.)

    DSC_2740.JPG

While they are in the freezer; melt your white chocolate.

With white chocolate it's best to do it in a double boiler because it has a very low scorch point.  If you don't have one just put an inch or so of water in a pot and bring it to a boil.  Then set a glass or metal bowl in the pot and turn the heat down to medium and stir frequently as it melts.

So put your chocolate chips in the metal bowl...

    DSC_2741.JPG

Set them over the heat and stir as they melt...

    DSC_2742.JPG

Until you get a nice smooth consistency of chocolate.

    DSC_2743.JPG

Watch your chocolate and don't let it burn... Then dip the balls and place them back on a cookie sheet lined with wax paper until set.  I stuck mine back in the freezer for a few minutes to speed the process.

    DSC_2744.JPG

Then trim any messy edges and serve them up!

    DSC_2746.JPG

Pretty aren't they?!  These things are so rich and so YUMMY!

    DSC_2746x.jpg

All in all I think I spent about an hour and 45 minutes in the kitchen from start to finish for over 100 of these so they aren't time or labor intensive and they WILL be a hit.

    Enjoy!

  • Annual Awards Banquet and 22 Weeks

    Good morning!

What a busy end of week and weekend it's been!  I have pictures to share from the banquet on Friday night and from our big ultrasound.  So I'll get sharing!

We took most of our pictures before we ever left for the banquet.  It's a good thing we did!  I had a feeling that we wouldn't be able to take many during the evening since both of us were participating and boy was I right!  we got exactly ONE picture actually at the banquet!

So here we go...  here I am.  This is my new emergency trip to San Antonio dress.  It was actually very comfortable and appropriate for the evening.  Whew!

    DSC_2661.JPG

Here is a close up of the top so you can see the rouching.

    DSC_2693.JPG

Here is Ryan all decked out in his mess dress!

    DSC_2668.JPG

I love how this picture of him turned out... so handsome!

     DSC_2690.JPG

Here we are together... getting ready for a night out on the town!

    DSC_2683.JPG

And when have Ryan and I ever been able to resist goofing off for a formal occasion... or any occasion for that matter?

    DSC_2675.JPG

Here is the one picture actual from the banquet.  When we first arrived I was given this 8 inch wrist corsage and Ryan was given this medallion that says "2009 Annual Award Nominee."  Pardon our slightly manic looks... We were in the middle of practicing our formal role in the procedures.

    DSC_2707.JPG

The banquet was lovely.  It was a really nice mix of formality, tradition and fun.

Ryan didn't win the NCO of the year award for the wing but being one of four nominees was really a great honor!  I'm so very proud of him... even more so after the banquet.

I got to rub elbows with a few big wigs that know my husband and couldn't say enough about him.  Hearing someone say, "Mrs. Laube, you have a great man here.  You should be very proud of him!  He truly deserved to win and will always be a winner in my eyes."  doesn't exactly fail to move me either!  Since he's not the kind to come home and tell me that kind of thing it was nice to hear from others that he is an incredible person with talent, a great work ethic, a wonderful attitude and a bright future!

When we got home I took a few pictures just for fun.  This picture shows Ryan with his NCO of the Year award for his squadron.  (The silver eagle) The NCO of the Year award for the MSG (The Texas Plaque) and his NCO of the Year Nominee Medallion.

    DSC_2721.JPG

I couldn't resist this... Can we say the Yellow Rose of Texas?  Do you think that's why they choose yellow?  *Snicker*

Also I wanted you to see just where in Texas I am... way down there!

    DSC_2734.JPG

One last picture!  I just had to share a picture with you of my hair!  I got asked three times where I had it done for the banquet.  I have to tell you that's flattering!  I do it myself... this is my everyday up do.  My hair is naturally curly so I have about three options... Up, a ponytail or down.  It's nice to know someone thinks I paid for it though!  And those roses really were beautiful!

    DSC_2732.JPG

Okay enough about the banquet!  We will supposedly get a formal picture from the Air Force of us walking through the raised sabres into the banquet room so I'll share that when we get it.  I also am going on base today again to attend Ryan's promotion ceremony.  (They are doing it a month late due to the holidays)  I actually get to tack on his stripes!  I've never done that before... He's always sewed on overseas!  We'll get a picture of that ceremony too... so when they come in I'll share!

In other news we had our big ultrasound on Friday before the banquet.

It wasn't anything all that interesting.  Our tech didn't talk so we have no real information.  She checked to make sure he was still a boy... check.  His heartbeat was right on... check.  My due date is still on... check.  That's all I know.  It lasted for about half an hour and at the end she just said that my doctor would get it in the next few days and that I would find out everything at my next appointment.  She did spend a little time trying to get a few good pictures for us though!  So I'll share those with you...

Here we have a profile shot...

     DSC_2657.JPG

Getting ready to suck his thumb... so cute!

    DSC_2648.JPG

    Success!  Thumb sucking has commenced!

    DSC_2650.JPG

Then he rolled over and fell asleep with his hands tucked under his chin... Of course this is a skeletal shot so he looks so alien!  LOL

    DSC_2653.JPG

This is my absolute favorite!  She finally after much poking and prodding got a face shot!  Just so you know what you're looking at... this is only a picture of his face from nose down to chin.  He's about to yawn... I love that you can see his lips and chin...  He looks so much like Ryan!!!

    DSC_2642.JPG

And here is my 22 week belly shot!

    DSC_2641.JPG

That's it for me today!  I'm off to get ready for the ceremony this afternoon.

Happy February!  (Can you believe it's here already?)

  • HOLY MOLEY!

Wish me luck ladies!  What a day this is going to be!

I had my normal appointment yesterday and they sprung on me that I will be having my big in depth hour long ultrasound TODAY!  I have to leave in a few hours for that.  We are super excited but I won't have time to come back and share...

    The reason?

The banquet is tonight!  Just a few hours after my appointment Ryan and I have to report to the base where we will attend a practice run.  That's right!  We have to PRACTICE!!  At the practice they will also be giving me a corsage and Ryan a medallion.

Ryan is one of four nominees for NCO of the year for the wing and we just found out that this means we'll be walking in announced... as in "Presenting Tech Sergeant Ryan A. Laube escorted by his wife Courtney Laube" through a row of raised sabres!  Holy COW!  As we enter they will be displaying pictures of Ryan and I together, him on deployment, and him on his project sites.  Apparently this is a much bigger deal than we were led to believe!  There is even a place where we are to stop and pose for a formal portrait with the sabres behind us... SHEESH!

I'll take my camera and leave it at our table... Hopefully I'll get a chance to get some decent pictures but in any case I believe we are given copies of those taken at the banquet.

So I'm off for an insanely busy and important day!

Boy am I glad I went to San Antonio to buy a dress...  I was originally going to have to wear a nice shirt and some ill fitting pants with a belly band... that would have been great!  LOL

I'll do my best to get around tomorrow with pictures and news!

  • Little things...

    Good afternoon,

There isn't a whole lot going on around our neck of the woods... and at the same time there are a thousand little things!  Let's see... where to begin?

I suppose first and foremost I can now share pictures of my recent projects!  I've been crocheting up a storm but the problem is that almost everything I've worked on has been a gift of one form or another for someone who would see these pictures!  Now that Christmas is over I can share a few of them...  Years ago I was diligent in taking pictures of each finished project but these days I simply don't remember to pull out the camera each and every time so there are only pictures of about half of my recent projects.

This is a standard granny square for my nephew, Dylan.

    DSC_1448.JPG

    Matching hat.

    DSC_1450.JPG

Granny square for my nephew, Aaron...

    DSC_1453.JPG

    And matching hat.

    DSC_1455.JPG

This is a daisy chain pattern for my niece, Savannah...

    DSC_1459.JPG

A trinity stitch multi colored for my nephew, Malaki.

    DSC_1465.JPG

This is a close up of the trinity stitch in oatmeal... this one was full sized and for my Brother in law, Andy.

    DSC_1476.JPG

This is a triple wave stitch that I did for my sister, Becky and her husband Ty.

    DSC_1479.JPG

This is a peacock stitch that I did for my sister Charly and her husband Zach.

    DSC_1484.JPG

This is also a peacock stitch I did for my mom and dad.

    DSC_1487.JPG

I also had blankets for Ryan's parents, Denny and Cheryl, and one for my sister in law Josie.  But I forgot to get pictures of them before I wrapped them!

I also made a few hats for our Godson, Derick.  I only have pictures of two of them but they were my favorite two anyhow.

    This is a watchcap...

    DSC_1495.JPG

And this is absolutely my favorite hat I have EVER made.  An earflap hat with a Monster stitched on the front!

    DSC_1500.JPG

    See my monster!?  So fun!!!

    DSC_1506.JPG

I also have a few pictures of the projects I've been working on for Isaac when he arrives.  So far I have one standard granny square blanket in yellow (at the time I did not yet know if we were expecting a boy or a girl) and a baby hat in the same yarn... and I'm almost finished with a bobble stitch square blanket in cream.

Here is the yellow granny square...

     DSC_2602.JPG

And hat!  (Baby hats might just be Ryan's favorite things that I make so there will probably be plenty!)

     DSC_2606.JPG

And then here is my current project.

     DSC_2607.JPG

Here is a close up of the stitch...

     DSC_2610.JPG

Unfortunately for all other projects for Isaac I'll have to either appeal to my mother to ship me yarn or make a trip into San Antonio.   There isn't anywhere here to purchase yarn other than the smallest yarn section I've ever seen in our Walmart.  So much for one of the perks I was expecting to partake of when I moved back stateside!

    *****

Oh, there is another awesome tid bit!  We received a package from my mother in law yesterday that just sent me into fits!  I'm so excited about these and Ryan just about flipped when he came home and saw them sitting on the table!

    The Hallmark Recordable Storybooks!

Bright and Beautiful... which is based on the hymn.

    DSC_2597.JPG

All the Ways I Love You... which is so cute!  It's probably my favorite of the two!

    DSC_2599.JPG

We saw a commercial for these a month or so before Christmas and just knew that we HAD to have them.  In case you don't know about them... They are a story book that is entirely recordable.  You hit record and read each page aloud, one by one and then lock it in.  Then your child can turn the pages (or you can for them of course) and your voice reads each page.

    DSC_2611.JPG

They are perfect for Ryan!  Can you imagine how much Isaac will treasure being read to sleep each night by his father's voice when Ryan is half a world away serving a deployment?  I have every intention of using these even when Isaac is a baby so that when Ryan comes home his voice is familiar and loved by our son.

    Thanks Mom!

    *****

I also have a copy of Ryan's official picture for NCO of the year for his group.  Doesn't he look so handsome?

    Laube-3429.jpg.JPG

AND...  We just found out last week that he's been nominated for NCO of the Year for the wing!

As a result of that nomination we are attending the annual awards banquet on Thursday night.  We had to take an emergency trip to San Antonio this past weekend to find me an appropriate dress for the occasion.  I have a few things I keep in my closet for just such a surprise occasion... but I don't exactly keep anything semi formal on hand for being pregnant!  So after a long exhausting day of shopping and way more money than I would ever want to spend on any dress (let alone for a pregnancy dress) I'm set for Thursday night.

My fingers are crossed that Ryan wins and that we have a wonderful time!

In any case...  He needed a much more formal picture for this wing nomination.  So here is that one!

    Laube-3457.jpg.JPG

He also had to write a biography of his career, send pictures of him and me together, him on a deployment, and him doing site visits for the projects he is working on.  It's a big deal!

    Wish him luck!

    *****

That's about it going on around here.  We have so much to do over the next few months that my head is spinning.  Here's the short list!

Get the last of my papers together so that I can file taxes.  Huzzah!  They are filed!
Fix our '98 Honda Shadow ACE and get is sold!
Clean out the nursery ie unpack the rest of our boxes!
Make yet another trip to San Antonio so we can register.

Along with about a thousand other things!

And with that I suppose I should bid you Aufwiedersehen and get on with it!

  • 20 Week Update!

    Good Afternoon!

Today is a huge milestone for me.

I'm 20 weeks pregnant... Half way through!

After all these years of trying I'm honestly still having a hard time grasping that this is real!  Read that last sentence to say that I have done nothing to get ready for this little guy!  Well, I've bought a few outfits but that about it... Want to see?

These first two were bought for the baby for Christmas by Ryan's mom.  So cute right?

    DSC_2582.JPG   DSC_2583.JPG

These are outfits that Ryan and I bought together... for the record we love dinosaur stuff!  :)

    DSC_2579.JPG  DSC_2581.JPG

This one is so fun... Do you see the little Dino feet socks?

    DSC_2580.JPG

These last three are special.  Ryan and I bought them years and years ago for our hope chest.  It was so much fun to pull them out of storage... I had almost given them away but just couldn't quite part with them... Now I'm so glad that I didn't!

This first one says, "I LOVE MY AIR FORCE DAD"

    DSC_2591.JPG

"NOBODY PUTS BABY IN THE CORNER" For those of you who know Ryan you know the joke behind this and it's just so funny for us!

    DSC_2592.JPG

And of course... what child of Ryan's wouldn't be a... "JEDI IN TRAINING"?

    DSC_2594.JPG

That's all so far.  I'm working on a registry and I'm going to have to make a trip to San Antonio soon so that I can do some of it in person.

(Speaking of my registry...  Could all of you moms out there give me your top three 'can't live without' items?)

Everything is going remarkably well.  I am completely over the morning sickness now and I feel great!

I felt Isaac kick for the first time (the first tiny little flutter) at 13 weeks and a bit.  Nowadays I feel him all the time.  Ryan has been able to feel him kick for a few weeks now and just last night we both got him to react by pressing on him and getting him to kick us back!  So fun!

I am also at the point where I really look pregnant all the time!  Yippee!

Here is my official 20 week belly picture.

     DSC_2570.JPG

I'm also hungry ALL THE TIME... which leads me to my final out...  I'm off to root through the pantry like the pig I've become for something lovely to eat!  (I'll probably have to settle for something less than stellar as I need to grocery shop but Ryan has the car...  but a girl can dream right?)

    So, until next time!

  • Pardon my grandstanding!

Today I have to just take a moment to brag on my husband!

In the six months we've been here in Del Rio, TX he has received the award for NCO* of the Quarter twice.  We just found out that he also made NCO* of the Year for both his office and the group (he's also been nominated for the wing but we won't know if he got it for a while)  We also just found out that he was nominated for one of the 12 categories of Airman of the Year, Air Force wide.  That's a long shot coming from such a small base but just the nomination is a HUGE honor.

*NCO stands for Non Commissioned Officer

To top all of that off... He sewed on Tech Sergeant on the 1st of January.

So now I'm Mrs. Tsgt. Ryan A. Laube!

    DSC_2538

I am so very proud of him, for his hard work and dedication to his duties and in turn to our family.

I'm proud to call him my husband and my best friend.

It sometimes takes sacrifice... long hours, days, weeks, and months alone... but knowing that he loves what he does and that he does it for us makes it all fade away.  I've learned over the years to enjoy the moments we have with each other and to endure the lonely moments in the sure knowledge that Ryan believes he is right where God wants him to be and that he is fulfilled in his life...  Who could ask for more?

    With all my heart Ryan...

I can't wait for our son to know you and to discover just what an amazing man you are!

  • Another New Arrival (A few months late...)

    Good Morning!

I have several things to write about that are LONG overdue...  So today I'm going to take the opportunity to share one of them (the most recent of course!)

The birth of my newest nephew, Aaron Isaac.  He is the first child of my sister, Charly, and Ryan's brother, Zach, who got married two years ago.

I went home in early October to meet my other Nephew, Dylan (who was born in August and who I wrote about HERE) and to be there for the birth of Aaron if I could.

I made sure to get a few shots of the expecting parents!

    DSC_1661.JPG

    DSC_1663.JPG

    Anxiously awaiting...

    DSC_16712.jpg

And then one morning in the wee small hours both Mom and I got a wake up call...  He was on his way!

Only a few hours later he was here!

    DSC_1723.JPG

A beautiful boy with all his fingers and toes born on October 14th.

     DSC_1743.JPG

Then Daddy got to put on his very first diaper!

  • Hugely exciting and Completely Unexpected!

Hello!  It's been quite a while...

I changed my site all around and my music.  It seems that this will be the theme song for my pregnancy... it keeps getting stuck in my head and I hear it in my dreams... so it's just going to stick!

    *****

Ryan and I had a wonderful Christmas and New Years with the family!  It was so good to be with everyone for a holiday again.

I'll have to talk about all of that later though because I have big unexpected news!!!

First off I have to share some pictures!  The first one you've seen... this is me at 13 weeks pregnant.

    Week13.JPG

This is me just a few days before Christmas at about 16 weeks pregnant.  Holy Moley!

    Week16.JPG

And here I am yesterday at 18 weeks and 4 days.

    Week182

Now for the big unexpected news!

I had my regular Doctor's appointment today.  After the expected question and answer session and all the regular information that comes along with this kind of appointment he asked the question I had been waiting for.

    "Any questions?"

I said "Yep, just one!  When do we get to find out the sex of the baby?"

He smiled and said... "Do you want to take a peek now?"

Ryan and I grinned at each other and said a big enthusiastic, "Yes please!"

We were escorted into the ultrasound room and set up.  We were so excited as the lights went off...

And then there the baby was.  The doctor showed us the head and neck... the length of the spine and the rump.  The baby was sitting with legs drawn up to chest just waving those little arms around and then the doctor slid the picture to the side and showed us the face.  The baby was sitting there opening and closing it's mouth and looking so much like Ryan it was crazy!

And then the big moment... Another adjustment by the doctor... a little kicking by the baby and then this!

Can you see?  Can you tell?

    IT'S A BOY!

Yes, our little Laubester is a boy...  This means that baby has a name and the nursery has a theme!  :)

    The nursery theme will be...

    PIRATES!

Cotton Tale Pirate Cove to be exact...

We will pull in a bit of Peter Pan and Captain Hook just for fun and our animal of choice will be stuffed Alligators!  Fun Fun Fun!

    41uStQaxyUL__SL500_AA280_

Now for the all important name...

Our son's name will be, Isaac Orion Laube.

The name Isaac means, Laughter.  We choose it because in a way it will be this baby's heritage.  If the Laube men are famous for something it's laughing and making other's laugh.  It's an added bonus that the name comes from the story of Sarah.  Sarah could not bear children and was already very aged at the time of his conception. She chose the name Isaac because she had laughed at the messengers of God announcing that she would finally have a son.

The name Orion means, Son of Fire or Hunter on the Mountain.  This name is my way of naming our baby after his Dad without actually having a junior.

The name together, Laughing Son of Fire, is pretty much a perfect description of our personalities together...  He has the laughter and I have the temper!  :)

So all in all that was our hugely exciting and completely unexpected day!

I guess I had better get a move on... Dinner won't make itself and me and the Laube boys are getting hungry!

  • Epic blogger fail...

    Good morning,

I had these grandiose ideas about writing quite a few posts before I left for Christmas but in reality life has been a little out of control...  We had a Christmas parade that Ryan participated in, the squadron Christmas party which was a blast and plumbers in and out of the house every day for a week... with little to no change in our plumbing situation.  We have been busy planning our trip home and getting things ready to go... and suddenly...  We leave tomorrow morning at 4am!

So I'll be gone for two weeks.  I hope to be back shortly after our return.  I should have some pictures to share and I still have some things waiting in the wings to be talked about!

For now however I am consumed.  We are both driving tomorrow.  We need to sell our truck and it's just not selling in this small town so we're taking it home to Phoenix to sell there.  We are also taking some furniture in the truck that we need to sell because our household goods are overweight and we'll be adding another person and their stuff to our household in a matter of months!  We also have to take the boys home with us so the preparations are taking forever and way too much of my brain power!  I am NOT looking forward to this 13 hour drive with the dogs in the car, my absolute morning exhaustion and my still queasy in the morning stomach.  It's going to be a long grueling day!  Luckily on the return trip we'll all be in one car together so we can switch off driving!  Huzzah!!!

In other news I'm 16 weeks pregnant today.  Ryan and I were talking last night and it's still so surreal to both of us...  We've been married and alone for so very long that it's just not sinking in that in a matter of months everything will change!  CRAZY!!!  Don't get me wrong we're so excited but it's just so otherworldly for us after all these years of longing...

Just out of curiosity...  I felt the baby kick once almost two weeks ago... I had just eaten something VERY spicy and was sitting cross legged in tight pants LOL.  Keep in mind that I have been VERY aware of what my digestive track feels like after my surgery (we were trained to pay close attention in case anything was wrong) If it wasn't for the fact that my stomach was gurgling away I would have NEVER know that what I felt was the baby but it happened at exactly the same time as some other rumbling :) and I could tell it just wasn't from the right place exactly... all that added to the fact that it felt exactly like popping popcorn... I just knew that's what it was!   BUT I haven't felt anything but a small bump once in a while (maybe three times a week) since.  So I'm curious...  When did you start really feeling your baby move consistently during your pregnancy?

Okay that's it for me today... I'm off to finish packing and getting the house ready to be closed down.  I hope Ryan gets home early today because I need help and we need to hit the hay EARLY!!!!

All my love and best wishes for your holidays with family.  I'll be back soon,

    Courtney
